Before my trip to the states I did some beauty blog scouring to see what products were making waves the other side of the Atlantic and something which was cropping up time and time again was a recent base release from It Cosmetics. So by just glancing at the tube, this product claims to be full coverage, anti-ageing, hydrating and skin-like all the while being paraben free and with an SPF 50. All the mumbo jumbo aside, I was in need for a fuss free day base which I could just slap on with tinted moisturiser-esque tendencies and so I thought I'd give this one a whirl and this is what I thought.
So right off the bat the shade range isn't the most extensive, but I match pretty well with fair. The product itself comes in a tube but also has a pump so wins points for both portability and ease of use. I typically use 2 pumps for my whole face and I prefer to apply this with a brush, which is strange for me and this type of base. Upon first use I went in with my fingers to apply it but I found that I was just moving the product around my face and it just kind of sat on my skin, but after applying it with a brush (my weapon of choice is the Real Techniques sculpting brush) I found not only did it mesh with my skin better leaving a very skin-like finish but it also lasted longer and didn't get all blotchy throughout the day. I would say it lasts throughout a day at work, and if you're off out in the evening all you'd need to do is top up with a bit of concealer and powder and you're good to go. The coverage is pretty good with this, I find myself only having to go over my under eyes with concealer and then maybe the odd bit of extra angry discolouration. I'm not trying to pigeonhole this product, but there's one thing this puppy is lacking that other bases similar to this do offer, and that is product itself. So in each tube you get 32ml, whereas typically you'd get a 50ml helping for a TM and 30ml for a foundation, and because of the texture of this cream I pop a bigger dollop on the back of my hand than I would with a foundation and after a short two months I reckon I'm about half-way through the tube. I do think that fact speaks volumes for the base itself, because truly I am reaching for it on a daily basis but with a more high-end price tag I'd like to see this enter 2016 with me, which at this rate I don't think it will. I'm probably just being bitter because I like this base a lot and I know it will leave my stash far too soon, but I do think it is worth noting before you spend your pretty pennies on it.
In short - it's great, I love it and I wish I could nip up the shops and make a repurchase, but because that isn't an option for me I'm wincing at each application. If you slot into any of the 5 shades then I'd say give this a whirl, I have a good skin day when I wear this and that's all you can really ask from a base product, right?
