Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup

I have been a committed MAC Studio Fix Fluid wearer for such a long time now, so breaking the mould was hard... but so worth it! Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free foundation has only been in stores for about a year, so I don't actually know anyone else who has tried it yet. There is a wide range of colours, but for those girls out there with vampire white skin, I don't think there is a shade for you, as all the colours are warm toned with more yellow to gold tones in them. I was matched to the colour 'ivory' which is listed as the fifth colour on the colour chart. It is claimed that this product can last "even in extreme heat and humidity all day", and the lady I spoke to said this could last up to a 30 degree heat, which is amazing, although, this foundation does not contain any SPF, which seems silly to me!

It took about a week or so for my skin to get used to the foundation, but it was worth the wait. The coverage is described as sheer to moderate, but in reality it is more of a moderate finish, it is still really buildable and I am able to swap between a lighter coverage for work, and a fuller coverage for a night out. I use my Real Techniques Stippling Brush to apply this and really buff it into the skin, the finish is long-lasting and incredibly matte. As the finish is so matte, dry patches are highlighted, but this can be avoided as long as the skin is prepped well. Usually, by lunchtime oil really starts to show on my t-zone and if I don't blot or use powder and I am usually left with a scaly finish where my foundation has spread. In contrast, with this foundation I was so shocked to see that by lunchtime, it looked exactly the same as in the morning, I was amazed! To really put it to the test for a few days I didn't apply powder throughout the day to see how long it would last, and by the end of an 8 hour shift, admittedly you could see some oil trying to creep through, but nothing that couldn't be touched up. I use a primer and a powder with this foundation to really set it, and I honestly think this is a must have for girls with oily skin.

I really love the simple packaging and the size is perfect so it doesn't bulk out your make-up bag - I would love to see more colours introduced and I will definitely be re-purchasing this! ...and to top it all off, this is one of the cheaper foundations by Clinique priced at £21.50, love, love, love!
