I got the colour Black/Noir and this product's RRP is £7.99
Maybelline mascaras usually get very good press on the blogosphere, because of the quality and the low price. I've tried quite a few of Maybelline's mascaras, including the Colossal Cat Eyes and very talked about Falsies. When I saw that a The Rocket was released and on offer (when I purchased it), I just couldn't resist!!
The wand is super thick (and very hard to focus on!) with very small rubber bristles
The wand has a large rubber tip with short rubber bristles. This works wonderfully on your bottom lashes, and really separates them, however I had real trouble when applying to the top lashes. The way that the wand grabs your lashes and pulls on them actually hurt my eyes. I tend to 'blink and wiggle' when applying mascara and I have tried tonnes of mascaras and never had this issue, on this fact alone, I know I won't be re-purchasing this mascara, I don't know if it is just me/my technique/my eye shape/the wand that made this happen but either way, even now after about a month or so it still hurts applying this (admittedly not as much as when I originally started using this product). The results you get from this mascara is certainly not worth the pain! I wouldn't say it volumises my lashes all that much, the results aren't all that dramatic so this could be good for a subtle look or work/school.
My eyes with no mascara
My eyes with the product on
As I said before, I unfortunately won't be repurchasing this, but I do think it works particularly well on bottom lashes. The feeling I get whilst applying this may just be exclusive to me, but I wouldn't recommend this mascara, either to veteran mascara appliers or people looking to start using make-up. A rare miss from Maybelline.
